How you get the market and the plus

BMO Market+ ETFs are designed to stay closely aligned with their broad market sector weights. The equity securities are selected using a systematic model of fundamental equity analysis based on various factors including earnings quality, valuation, price momentum, profitability, management quality and market sentiment.

When a small edge compounds to more

Small return differences can add up over time. This illustration shows how incremental excess returns – if achieved consistently – may compound into different outcomes. BMO Market+ ETFs are designed to seek modest improvements over the broad market, though outcomes are not guaranteed.

The graphic illustrates the hypothetical impact of an initial investment of $100,000 over the period shown. The “Market” bar reflects an assumed annualized return of 10%, while “Market +2%” reflects an assumed annualized return of 12%. These assumptions are for illustrative purposes only and are not intended to reflect actual or future performance of the BMO Market+ Suite of ETFs. Please be advised that BMO Market+ ETFs are not index funds and the above graph is purely hypothetical and for illustrative purposes only.

BMO Market+ ETFs FAQ

Sources

1Return (risk-adjusted): A measure of investment performance taking into consideration how much risk/volatility was assumed to generate it. Consider two investments, both of which return 10% over a given time period. The investment with the greater risk-adjusted return would be the one that experienced less price fluctuation. Two of the most commonly used measures of risk adjusted returns are Sharpe and Sortino ratios.

2Beta: A measure of the volatility, or systematic risk, of a security or a portfolio in comparison to the market as a whole.

3Alpha: A measure of performance often considered the active return on an investment. It gauges the performance of an investment against a market index or benchmark which is considered to represent the market’s movement as a whole. The excess return of an investment relative to the return of a benchmark index is the investment’s alpha.
